Maps | Newly created by Isoldt Harris - 1:4000 covering full range of parklands, monuments, canalside paths, railways and town centre pedestrianisation as well as various housing complexes providing a variety of urban terrain. Very little climb so no contours added. Courses A & B will be Double Sided |
Course Notes | Courses A-B have a double-sided map Courses must only cross the canal at the Southern end via the elevated road & pathway. The ground level (low level) crossing is out of bounds and must not be used.
Courses A-E - All courses cross busy roads – Take care There are a few complex road junctions in the centre, not controlled by lights – with traffic approaching from multiple directions – Take extra care if crossing at these points. NB Saturdays are generally busier than Sundays for cars and pedestrians There are some road works in the town centre which may appear to block roads, but pedestrian access is still possible.
Junior courses (F&G) When leaving/entering the park by the western entrance use the footpath immediately to the left of the park gates – do not cross the road. Course F may cross minor roads, but such road crossings are minimal – take care when crossing any roads or entrances
All Courses A-G Please be considerate of other road & path users – take care when crossing any areas with vehicular access Courses may come close to bodies of water such as canals and lakes. A small section of canal side and the lakes are unfenced. Unfenced water bodies have paths adjacent to them which should be used Take care especially in inclement weather as paths, and areas of parkland and grassy banks may be slippery especially where leaf fall is evident Beware and be considerate of other park users including pedestrians & dog walkers There may be many anglers particularly in the park – take care especially when passing behind them as they may be unaware of you when casting their rods All Courses close at 1330 hrs -Enjoy your run but remember to download even if you do not finish your course |
