Facilities | The park has plenty of parking, toilets, a café, a shop and children's play area, plus displays in the Hall itself. There is also a campsite suitable for tents, campervans or motorhomes. The campsite fee includes a discount for meals at the adjacent golf course clubhouse & free entry to the park. Camping must be booked in advance. For details of the park facilities, camping, opening times & membership see the park website. The event centre is in a classroom about 100m from the car park. The classroom is between the courtyard café and the walled garden – from the car park, go through the gap in the wall by the toilet block and turn left. It is on the right behind the hedge. You may leave personal belongings here at your own risk.
Safety | There are a number of areas which are out of bounds for your own safety, please adhere to them. 1) The deer sanctuary which is in the middle of the map. It is fenced off and you should have no reason to go in it. 2) The road and verge to the west of the area (marked with purple crosses). 3) Areas under the GoApe activity (marked with purple hashing). 4) The ha ha wall (near the GoApe). Please do not cross it (marked with a solid purple line). In addition please be aware of the following: The area is well used by the public, including dog walkers and horse riders – please be courteous and give way to them. The area has some water filled ditches and ponds. Some of the paths in the country park are surfaced and can have quite an edge to them which may be hidden under leaves. The area is traffic free but there may be park maintenance vehicles operating. The ‘land train’ may also be running.
Please do not climb walls and fences.
Note that orienteering is an adventure sport. A risk assessment for the event has been prepared, however please be aware that participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. You are advised to carry a whistle.
