Many thanks to the 11 HALO members who gave up a Saturday evening (and the early hours of Sunday morning for some) in March to help organise the Humber Night Challenge where 94 youngsters in 20 teams successfully navigated their way round a 16 mile course, mainly off road, starting and finishing at Elsham Hall in temperatures below freezing but fortunately dry. The top three results, which were kept under wraps until the prizegiving evening at the Odeon Cinema in Hull on 19 April, were –
=1st Tea Bags (3:37:40) and Team Rapp (4:30:20)
2nd BTec Hull (4:17:00)
=3rd Baysgarth B (4:32:09) and Junior Volunteers (4:33:38)
The times shown in brackets are the how long the teams took to complete the course, excluding the time taken to tackle the five challenges that they encountered on route. The final positions were adjusted to reflect their scores for the challenges. HALO presented each of the members of the top five teams with a HALO Prize Voucher which entitles the bearer to free admission at any HALO club night or orienteering event for a year.

At the de-brief following the event, a number of aspects were identified which could be improved on but the overwhelming view of the partners was that the event had met all of its objectives and would be run again next year, possibly on the North Bank, but with HALO to be involved at an earlier stage.
