11/04/2018 Poacher 1 Swallow Vale
Report | The 2018 season kicked off in style thanks to Elspeth's (and David's) Premier courses even for those of us suffering from self inflicted football injuries. Those hills certainly rehabilitate the calves! Swallow Vale is an area we use at different times of the Poacher Season but it certainly proved a good choice for the first 'match' as it is one of the few areas which is relatively mud free due to it's chalky and sandy terrain. Hope you all enjoyed the challenge especially the newcomers Vicky 1 and Hilary who can continue their climb up the League Table next week at the relatively muddy Willingham Woods. To complete the Medium Course successfully on first attempt is no mean feat. Note: Compass found now in the safe hands of Brian... is it Martin's?? On the Short Imogen who was so close to top honours last season started the new campaign well just fighting off a 'tigerish' performance from Harry. On the Medium, Wayne who had to fly back to base (Coningsby)asap was the victor from last year's Junior victor Jonathan. But we all know it's a long gruelling season and it is early days. On the Long, last year's runner up Liam, fresh from a Wembley performance at the weekend looked to build on the Imps' success by beating fellow LOGgies Paul and Craig. Thanks to Kite Collectors Harriet, Mike, Dave and Sam it is appreciated and Results and Registration team jetlagged Pete , Isoldt and Brian. Poacher 2 this year coincidentally is also my 60th birthday so all are welcome to 'celebrate' after next week's event. See website for venue, note it will be not be quite as warm as the last Chairman's 60th, but could still be a pool party if it does not stop raining! |
