8/05/2013 Poacher 5 Primrose Warren

Report
HALO have been using Primrose Warren for 28 years and some of us can still remember the inaugral event and were then suitably impressed with its diversity of features, path and ride network and variety of woodland. During that time little has changed and it still provides an excellent competition area. Helen who thought she was returning to her back garden (the number of hours her parents have spent mapping, planning and controlling here)and fresh from her victory at the British Championships produced excellent courses utilising the runnability of the forest. Her dedication to the sport is such, that by the time you read this she and HALO compatriots Neil & Ken will have jetted off to compete in Porto this weekend (hopefully not stuck at the airport and mapping Stansted instead)!
On the Short course Emily was delighted with her first victory and now Jacob and Marsaili are in a three horse race.
On the Medium course Yasmin extended her lead but Chris at one stage was near to his first victory (the photographs of the leaderboard at that stage prove it).The dark horse this year is Devon, trained at the the Field stable, who in her first season could be the Ladies or Junior Champion.
On the Long course another shock with Zac missing a control although 2 mins faster than Liam. It is now 2 victories all, so like last year it could be a photo finish and the champion being dependent on the vital 2nd & 3rd places. The other LOG thoroughbred Paul remains the bookies favourite to be Vet Champ. Dave and Helena both were below their best but are still on course for the SuperVet and Women's titles, although Harriet is proving a stubborn consistent opponent.4 Jokers played last night - all competed up to their expectations and gaining bonus points accordingly.
Next week back to Yarborough land at Halliday/Brompton parking 400m in the forest accessed via Grasby Bottom Crossroad.
