29/05/2013 Poacher 8 Pillar Woods

Report
It may have been the coolest Spring for 30 years but this years Poacher is providing hot competition. Meteoroligist engineer Dave, making his debut and ably supported by other Jolly family members, was unable to influence the weather but able to produce excellent courses in a once excellent area. It was sad to see how some of the previous better areas have been radically changed since the YHOA Champs 15 months ago - should keep Brian even busier with the required map updates.Dave was able to avoid these areas with his strategic control placement.
On the Short, Emily, after another success, now looks to be a serious contender for the title (if she competes in the minimum 8 events) and a rival to Marsaili, who must be wondering when to play her Joker. The Jolly sisters certainly produced a well planned course - worth looking on Route Gadget.
On the Medium,it is still all to play for with Dave scoring maximum points thanks to his Joker and still likely to challenge Yasmin (if he competes in the minimum 8 events).Other mentions to Ann beating her other half and Lawrence and Joe who dead heated - what other sport can a 10 year old compete so closely on level terms with a 50 year old? Mark (hope he found his compass)now looks the likely victor in the UltraVets class, with Pete out with injury (I know how it feels!).Also special mention to the 2 Holly's who produced their best results of the Series on their respective courses.
On the Long, Paul and Dave now seem to have unassailable leads as does Helena (if she competes in the minimum 8 events).Zac triumphed again and I am sure a number of others are waiting for next year when his University studies commence, except Dean & Rosie who have the prospect of having to start to fund their kids for another 12 or more years!!
Next week the fast and furious Sprint Events start at Normanby Hall - rules slightly modified from last year, so see posting on website (hopefully)or on display at the event. Similarly for Post Race Analysis Venue - if last minute change.
Note: can all of last years trophy winners please return them asap
