10/05/2017 Poacher 5 Swallow Vale

Report
Thanks to debutant planner Isoldt who produced some excellent 'Middle distance' type courses and was able to keep the amount of climb to a minimum!!
This area is continuously changing with knolls and rootstocks disappearing and cropping up at will (plus shooting butts), so hopefully the map updates were a relatively accurate reflection of the terrain. It certainly is an excellent runnable area when the nettles are low and the sun is out.
On the Short, defending champion Hannah took her first victory of the season from the ever improving Harry.
On the Medium, things are certainly hotting up, with defending Ladies champion Holly remaining unbeaten and Chris remaining on her heels. A few of the trophies are certainly still open, namely the Junior and Ladies. Jonathan and Rosie currently fill top spots in these categories but Jacob and Megan remain on their heels.
On the Long, defending champion Liam certainly has some hot competition this year with Joe gaining another victory. The consistent Yasmin could end Helena's reign as the 'Poacher Queen/Princess'. Phil seems to have come from nowhere to be in contention for the Masters, but if Dean remains fit, the Fields' may certainly not be potless this campaign, or if defending Champion Paul gets his 8 runs in with all his BO Coaching commitments.
Just a quick note on punching as the unfortunate Martin failed to record a time at one controls. This has been in the headlines this week at British Champs, and although our Poacher rules are generally a bit more flexible, certainly on the Medium & Long Courses it is the competitors responsibility to dib correctly.
Certainly at the LCS in 2 weeks time - there will be no leniency. We all have mp'd at some time, and some still have not learnt our lesson!
The LCS this year coincides with Poacher 7 - pre entry is required for Medium & Long runners, so those who have not entered their details on the list yesterday please do so next week at Twigmoor or email before Monday 22nd May
