The results from the sixth event (Barton) and final team positions are here and final team points here. So the HALO comeback was not quite sufficient to overcome the 52 point deficit from the previous events. So close in the end, but congratulations to LOG in retaining the trophy by a margin of just 3 points.
The courses throughout the Series were all well planned and Charlottes’ were no exception – with Route Choices aplenty. If you can draw your routes on Route Gadget it is appreciated by the planners who can study the routes in detail to compare distances, times etc. Those already drawn show a multitude of route choices. It certainly shows what decisions are made at the heat of the moment – and there was plenty of heat last night.
Congratulations to Series winners – Sasha, Joanne, Luke, Charlotte and Thomas. Special mention to Chris who dead heated with Luke but lost out on countback. The Mens Long competition was equally close with the top 4 only 1 point behind each other.
Good luck to Thomas, who is moving to London next month, so is unlikely to be able to defend his trophy next year.
In total approximately 125 people competed and completed at least one course – which is a healthy number and all bodes well for the future of Urban Orienteering in this area. Also I should mention Dave J and Amanda who competed and completed all 6 events – although some of the planners/controllers did compete in 5 events and also plan an event.
Thanks to all planners, SI teams and kite collectors during the Series who made it all worthwhile. Lastly thanks to Brian Hostad for compiling the Series results and tables.
