We had fewer participants tonight so five athletes dared to attempt the tasks set out. A more difficult compass exercise than last week was planned to fine tune skills. Participants used training compasses ‘Silva – Micro Racer’ provided by the club. This is a thumb compass without the base plate, so the North needle swimming in liquid, is all you have with which to navigate.
A 1km course was set so that progress in terms of speed could be measured over the next few months. The times are recorded here.
The last activity was a return to the ‘circles’ exercise. I have published times so that comparisons can be made. Note that Lucy one of our keen improvers had a crack at course 10 where she accurately took in 16 of the controls on the grid.
See you all next week where we will put together compass work and pacing.
