Many thanks to all the HALO members that turned out for the club against Lincolnshire rivals LOG for the annual challenge competition.
The event consisted of a Prologue and Chase format at the University’s Riseholme campus. The Prologue took us to the North of the site where we experienced some of the grottier parts of the woodland. The warnings in the start lane about one control being sited in running water turned out to be no exaggeration. Althought the weather on the evening was very pleasant, many of the paths had become rivers due to earlier heavy rain. The Chase was a welcome relief, taking us to the south of the campus in decidely more runnable areas. One tricky part of the Chase was avoiding the sheep in the field next to the lake – they were running in packs to get away from the runners, but because the courses criss-crossed the field, the sheep only succeeded in runnning towards other groups of runners, requiring some avoiding action.
