British Orienteering have recently announced their Talent, Development and Performance Squads for 2015 and in addition they have also announced a ‘Watch’ Squad for athletes ‘who are just outside the criteria for inclusion into the squads or are not able to accept their place in the squads at this time’. Charlotte has been included in this Watch squad and one hopes thefore she is now on the fringe of the Performance Squad which consists of all the GB seasoned International regular competitors.
On New Year’s Day 2014 when she was the leading points scorer at the HALO Tealby Score Event trudging through the mud and cow pats of the Lincolnshire Wolds on a 19th Century map would she believe 10 months later she would be sprinting round the delights of Stirling Castle donning an England vest on a map voted the best Sprint map by the IOF for 2014?
Her acheivements this year are too numerous to mention – a winning regular at many LUL (won’t mention the S word) ,EMUL, YUL and UKUL Events as well as winning the Canadian Championships and second at the British Championships. So this latest recognition is well deserved and all bodes well for 2015.
I understand Charlotte will be competing at this year’s NYD Event at Spur Chase so this your chance to compete along side one of the leaging GB orienteers (the lucky ones may even be in her team). We all therefore hope that 2015 will be equally if not more successful for Charlotte and with the WOC only 8 months away we won’t mention the F word quite yet!
