9/04/2014 Poacher 1 Hendale
Report | Hope you all enjoyed the first Poacher of 2014 - fast and furious. Firstly apologies for the speed of our IT systems - showing signs of age - just like some of our members. You can trust our men of velleities to solve. It was a night for the juniors and ladies plus the usual suspects. 5 of the top 10 on the Medium course were Juniors with Marsaili making an encouraging debut with the more experienced Dom,Luke,Joe and the consistent Yasmin all achieving sub 11 minutes per km. Special mention to LOG's Ben Mather who also successfully completed his first TD4 course and punched well above his weight (I guess about 4 stone). First place on the Medium went to Lawrence, his first of the year(unless you count his Heat success on Mastermind - see the semi final on Good Friday - not this week as previously reported).Kate was unlucky again in finishing second only 28 seconds behind - but could be a serious contender for one of the trophies this year. On the Short course good to see some newcomers but it was Holly who was fastest running 8 min per kms - a speed some of us can only dream of. The Long Course was another 'shoot out' between last years main contenders with little splitting Liam, Paul & Zac (the latter being even too quick for his dibber to respond). The absent Helena may have a new rival for the Ladies' Trophy this year with Holly Robinson producing an exceptional result beating many stalwarts and next week's planner. The coach parked adjacent to the wood was for the Goole High School students who competed on their own course (many successfully for a first event)as part of their GCSE course - hopefully they all enjoyed themselves as they behaved impeccably. Thanks to kite collectors Dave,Sam & Mary V (who stayed on to assist - despite being under the weather). Hope to see you all next week just down the road at Cottager's Wood - access from A18. |
