10/04/2019 Poacher 1 - Primrose Woods Scunthorpe

Report
Thanks first and foremost go to Wayne who not only planned our first Poacher of the season but also planned and organised the Military Event during the day. Some were able to enjoy both. The woodlands in April are probably at their best especially as we did not have to endure the higher undergrowth, the nettles and the biting insects.
The school holidays had an impact on the number of Juniors running with some preferring the delights of Vegas and Florida to the delights of Scunthorpe. This gave Mary an opportunity to take the honours on the Short as she rehabilitates from her knee injuries.
On the Medium a visit to the Club by Peter the Northern Development guru of British Orienteering gave him the opportunity to improve his O skills with his fitness from running the line in the Rugby Super League proving vital in beating Helena who also rehabilitates from her knee injuries and Megan who rehabilitates after the arrival of HALO's newest member. Good performances from Paul (the one without the D) and Chris the (one with the D).Also Jackie, who is the current leader in the new category of W over 60 on the Medium Course.
On the Long, the invasion from the South produced intense competition with only a couple of minutes separating the top 5, with current Champion Paul taking top
spot. The HALO top places went to Mike and Kate, the latter fresh from her numerous winter Caistor Running Club training events.
Thanks to Pete, Isoldt and Brian for the behind the scenes work and to Wayne again for restoring power. Also thanks to Mike and Ann for kite collecting.
Next week we are running at Osgoodby an area not used for 3 years which has improved with age. Parking at 10 Acres café.
