As a part of the Sport England funding initiative, British Orienteering has announced that [B]HALO[/B] has been invited to be a [B]”Participation Club”[/B] in 2010. Benefits to the club include the support of the Northern Participation Manager (Steve Vernon) during the year.
Two other clubs in the north(Leicestershire Orienteering Club and Merseyside Orienteering Club) and three in the south (Hertfordshire Orienteering Club, North Gloucestershire Orienteering Club and West Anglian Orienteering Club) have also been selected.

[/B]Steve Vernon will be working with HALO to establish a more regular training/meeting venue and deliver more frequent local orienteering activities that cater for both the accomplished orienteer and newcomers to the sport. In addition to increasing participation, Steve also aims to assist HALO in its volunteer recruitment and development.
