A new Winter Series of Night Park Sprints has been scheduled in the HALO Calendar.
This Series will consist of 6 Events (3 North Bank & 3 South Bank) in Dec/Jan/Feb on Tuesday evenings.
The format will be similar to that used in the 3 Poacher Sprints held in June each year.
However, there will be only 4 courses 1 x 1km, 1 x 1.5km, 1 x 2km & 1 x 2.5km.
Competitors need to complete a minimum of : Adults 3km & Juniors 2.5km.
Being in a Park environment the Courses will be suitable for both beginners and Orienteers who are new to Night Events. With multiple Courses being run, both distances from Start and Assembly areas and proximity to other competitors will never be too far.
Results will be determined by average speeds and a gender/age handicap formula will be applied accordingly.
Start times will be from approx. 6pm. Lights (head/chest or wrist required). As Courses will not cross public roads Juniors can compete with Parents’ permission or be accompanied accordingly.
Entry Fees £4 Adults & £2 Juniors – Families £10.
The events planned are:
5th Dec – Central Park, Scunthorpe (Assembly at the adjacent Brumby Hall Sports & Social Club).
12th Dec – King George V Playing FIelds, Cottingham
16th Jan – Weelsby Woods, Grimsby
23rd Jan – Humber Bridge Country Park, Hessle
30th Jan – Cleethorpes Country Park, Cleethorpes
6th Feb – Oak Road Playing Fields, Hull
